Frequently Asked Questions about Bamboo Barter

The Plant 🪴

  1. Where are the seeds located?

The seeds are located inside the handle of the bamboo toothbrush, which is securely sealed with a sticker.

  1. When can you plant the seeds?

We recommend planting the seeds before you start using the toothbrush as you'll find your seeds sprout into a lush basil/mint plant by the end of your toothbrush use!

  1. How long does it take for the seeds to sprout?

It takes approximately 90 days from seeding to maturity.

  1. What do I need to grow the seeds?

All you need to grow your seeds is a pot, some soil, regular watering, sunshine and most importantly love!

  1. Can the plants grow indoors?

Absolutely! Both mint and basil plants can grow indoors.

The Toothbrush 🪥

  1. How long does the bamboo toothbrush last?

Our bamboo toothbrushes are designed to last as long as a conventional plastic toothbrush. However, it is advised by dentists to change your toothbrush every 3 months or when the bristles starts wearing, whichever is first.

  1. How do I clean and take care of my bamboo toothbrush?

Like conventional toothbrushes, the bristles of your bamboo toothbrush can be cleaned by throughly rinsing and washing it with water. Use a hand towel or any small towel to dry your bamboo toothbrush after washing.

As bamboo is a natural material, it's best to keep your bamboo toothbrush in a dry cup or holder and stay in an upright position.

If you have multiple toothbrushes in one cup or holder, then make sure that they are separate from each other to allow for proper drying.

  1. How do you dispose of your bamboo toothbrush?

Made 100% of bamboo, the toothbrush handle can be composted either at home or through your garden waste bin.

Whilst the bristles are made 100% with plant-based castor oil, it unfortunately cannot be suggested that the bristles can be composted under normal house-hold conditions. This is because, in order for something to classify as compostable the process needs to take place in a set duration of time, which these bristles exceed by. Therefore, we recommend separately disposing off the castor oil bristles into the residual waste bin.

Our goal is to make our bristles compostable one day, which we are working hard to achieve.
